Chemical Peels in Manchester & Liverpool
Personalised professional peels for smoother, brighter and more even-looking skin
Chemical peels use carefully selected exfoliating solutions to remove damaged or dead surface skin cells. Depending on the formulation and depth selected, a peel may help improve the appearance of dullness, uneven tone, rough texture, fine surface lines and selected blemish-related concerns.
At Jaime Correia Aesthetics, every peel begins with a skin consultation. Jaime will assess your skin type, medical history, current skincare, previous treatments and individual concerns before selecting an appropriate formulation and treatment strength.
The objective is controlled, personalised skin improvement—not aggressive peeling or unnecessary downtime.
Treatments are performed by Jaime Correia, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Independent Prescriber with more than 20 years of NHS clinical experience and over 15 years in facial aesthetics.
What Is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel involves applying a controlled exfoliating solution to the skin for a specified period. The solution loosens or removes surface skin cells, allowing smoother and fresher-looking skin to become more visible.
Chemical peels differ in their ingredients, concentration, acidity, treatment depth and intended use. The strongest peel is not necessarily the best choice. Product selection should reflect your skin type, treatment history, tolerance, lifestyle and desired outcome.

Chemical Peel Recovery, Side Effects and Risks
The expected recovery depends on the formulation and depth of peel selected. Temporary warmth, tingling, tightness, redness, dryness, sensitivity, flaking or peeling may occur.

Potential complications include prolonged irritation, allergic reaction, infection, cold-sore reactivation, persistent redness, scarring and changes in pigmentation. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or loss of pigmentation may be more likely with inappropriate peel selection, excessive treatment or inadequate sun protection.

You will receive individual aftercare instructions. These may include gentle cleansing, moisturising, avoiding active skincare products, not picking peeling skin and using appropriate broad-spectrum sun protection.
Contact the clinic if you develop unexpected blistering, increasing pain, marked swelling, discharge, spreading redness or other symptoms that concern you.

Frequently asked questions.
Which peel is right for my skin?
Choosing the right chemical peel depends on your specific skin type, tone, and goals.
Superficial (Light) Peels
Best for: Mild acne, dullness, minor texture issues, and light pigmentation.
Key ingredients: Glycolic acid, lactic acid, or low-strength salicylic acid.
Downtime: Minimal (1 to 2 days of mild flaking or redness).
Skin tones: Generally safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types when properly formulated.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure where a chemical solution is applied to the face to exfoliate and remove the outer layers of damaged skin
Will my skin visibly peel?
No. A common misconception is that heavy peeling is required for a peel to be effective. Light or superficial peels often work on a microscopic or cellular level, accelerating cell turnover without producing large sheets of shedding skin.
Can chemical peels improve pigmentation?
Yes, chemical peels are an effective treatment for fading hyperpigmentation and evening out skin tone.
Exfoliation: Acids break down the bonds between dead skin cells, lifting away layers containing excess melanin.
Cell Turnover: They speed up the skin's natural renewal process so fresh, evenly pigmented cells replace darker patches.
Can chemical peels be combined with microneedling?
Yes, chemical peels and microneedling can be combined, but they require careful professional timing and technique to avoid severe irritation or damage.
Microneedling creates microscopic channels in the skin to trigger a healing response and stimulate deep collagen production.
Chemical peels exfoliate the outer skin layers to remove dead cells and improve surface tone and texture.
Synergistic effects: When paired correctly, the micro-channels from needling allow light peeling agents (like mild glycolic, lactic, or mandelic acids) to penetrate more evenly and deeply
